These Clipper Terms apply when you join a campaign as a clipper. They are part of your agreement with Universality with the Terms of Service, the Community Guidelines and the Copyright Policy. We keep a record of when you accepted them and which version. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must agree (see the Terms of Service).
1. Words we use
A campaign is a job from a brand with a brief (what to make and say, and its rules), a rate (pay per 1,000 verified views), a minimum (views a clip needs before it earns) and a maximum (most one clip can earn). Supplied material is footage, music, logos or other material a brand or we give you. A clip is a video you post and submit for a campaign.
2. You are independent
You work for yourself. You are not our employee, the brand's employee, partner or agent. You choose which campaigns to join, and where, when and how you work within the brief, with your own equipment and accounts. You may work for others. You are responsible for your taxes, insurance and any registrations the law requires of you (for example GST/HST). We do not withhold tax unless the law requires it, and you get no employee benefits. If the way we work together in practice looks different, we will talk to you.
3. How a campaign works
- Join a campaign open to you (campaigns can limit places, budget, countries and dates).
- Post a video that follows the brief on your own linked TikTok or Instagram account.
- Submit the clip within the time shown in the dashboard after posting (currently 30 minutes), while it is public, with a title and a genuine, unedited screenshot or screen recording (at most 20 seconds) of its audience statistics. A video can be submitted once.
- Our team approves or rejects it, and may change a decision later. Only approved clips earn money.
4. Your promises
The accounts you link are yours; the clip is your own work apart from supplied material, or you have the right to use everything in it (music, images, voices, people who appear); it follows the brief, these terms, the Community Guidelines, the platform's rules and the law; you take no payment from anyone else for the same post and do not buy views or use bots; and what you tell us is true.
5. Supplied material and confidentiality
Use supplied material only for that campaign and as the brief allows. It stays its owner's property. Treat non-public information a brand or we give you (unreleased products, plans, prices) as confidential and use it only for the campaign. Stop using material in new posts when the campaign ends or we ask.
6. Who owns what
- Your clip. You keep the copyright in the original parts of your clip. The brand or the original owner keeps the rights in supplied material and in its name, logos and products.
- Licence to us and the brand. You give Universality and the brand of the campaign a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to show, share, embed, link to and repost your clip, and use it in reports, while the campaign runs, for a reasonable time after, and while the clip stays posted. The brand may repost it on its channels and, only if the brief says so and you agree, run it as a paid ad through the platform's partnership tools.
- Credit and portfolio. We may show your public clip, display name and public view count in our portfolio and marketing with credit to you, unless you tell us not to (email [email protected] or use Get help in your dashboard). You can take this back for future use at any time.
- Moral rights. To the extent the law allows, you agree not to assert your moral rights against us or the brand for the uses this agreement allows. We will credit you where practical and will not use your clip in a way that harms your honour or reputation.
7. How views and earnings are counted
- The views the platform reports for your clip, read through the account you linked, are the official number. We read a clip's statistics at least every 2 days for 14 days after you submit it. On day 14 the views are locked, and that final number is what the clip's earnings are based on. Days count from when you submit.
- A clip earns nothing until it reaches the campaign's minimum, and never more than its maximum. A budget can limit total payments; when a campaign uses its budget it stops accepting new clips (approved clips keep counting their views).
- If you delete a video from the platform, we stop updating its views. A clip not yet approved can no longer be reviewed or paid; an approved one keeps what it had earned at its last count, which we may still reverse under section 9.
- Platforms correct their numbers and our team can change a campaign's rate. Earnings shown are calculated figures, not money, until they are in your wallet.
8. Wallet and cash-outs
- Earnings are paid into your wallet in two parts: what a clip has earned is paid once it is 7 days old; its views are counted for 7 more days; whatever it earned on top is paid when its views lock on day 14. A clip approved after day 7 is paid what it has earned then and the rest on day 14. Our team may also pay, adjust or take back a payment by hand. We tell you in your Inbox each time money reaches your wallet.
- You request a cash-out when your wallet reaches the minimum shown on the Balance page. We send it to the payment method you saved (for example PayPal or a wallet address, or, where we offer it, automatically through Stripe). Provider fees and currency conversion may apply. Cash-outs must go to an account held by an adult in your name or your parent's or guardian's name. A failed payment returns to your wallet.
- Give details you own and keep them correct; we are not responsible for money sent to details you gave us. We may ask for identity, tax or residency details before paying and hold a payment until we have them. If you must charge GST/HST or other sales tax, tell us before your first cash-out.
9. Holds, reductions and reversals
We may delay, reduce or refuse a payment, or reverse earnings, for a reason in our documents that we believe on reasonable grounds, such as: the views are not genuine; the clip broke the brief, the rules, the law or someone's rights; we paid by mistake or a platform corrected its numbers; the clip was paid twice or someone else paid you for the same post; the account was used to get around the rules; or the law requires it (a court order, sanctions) or we cannot confirm who you are. We do not hold money longer than we reasonably need to look into it and try to decide within 14 days. Money already in your wallet for a clip can be taken back if the clip is later found not to deserve it, but never more than it earned. We tell you what we took and why.
10. Invalid views and appeals
We look for views that are not genuine (bought views or followers, bots or scripts, view farms or engagement groups, unusual sources, sudden spikes that do not fit the audience, account sharing) by looking at the platform's numbers over time, the audience screenshot, the account's history and how the clip behaves, and may ask for more evidence. We keep a record of what we looked at and decided. If only some views are invalid we remove those and pay the rest; if the clip as a whole is not genuine we may void it; for repeated or serious cases we may suspend or close the account.
When we hold, reduce, reverse or void a payment, or reject or void a clip for these reasons, we tell you in your Inbox with the reason. You can appeal within 14 days: open the Support tab and choose "Appeal", say why we are wrong and send evidence. Someone who did not make the first decision looks at it, and we aim to answer within 10 working days. While it is open we take no further action on that amount other than holding it.
11. Advertising disclosure
Campaign posts are advertising. The law in Canada (the Competition Act and Ad Standards), the United States (FTC Endorsement Guides), the United Kingdom (ASA and CMA), the EU and elsewhere requires people to be able to tell. So:
- Say clearly that the post is an ad or paid partnership ("Ad", "Sponsored", "Paid partnership with the brand"), in the language of the video, where viewers see it without tapping or scrolling (the start of the caption, not among hashtags), and, for video, on screen and spoken where needed. Use the platform's paid-partnership or branded-content tool where it exists and the brief asks for it, but do not rely on the tool alone.
- Say if you got the product free or have any other connection to the brand.
- Say only what is true and what the brief allows. No fake testimonials or reviews, no unsupported claims about health, money, safety or performance, no false claims about other businesses.
- Do not post about regulated products (financial products, crypto, gambling, alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, health and weight-loss claims, political content, anything aimed at children) unless the brief says you may and gives you the rules.
We may review posts at any time, ask you to fix or remove one within 48 hours (sooner for serious or legal problems), stop counting its views and withhold its pay under section 9.
12. Ending
You can stop at any time by leaving a campaign, unlinking your accounts or asking us to delete your data; approved clips keep what they earned. We may end this agreement or a campaign if you break the rules or the law requires it. Money you properly earned and that is not under review is paid out if you give us the details we need; money under review stays until the review ends; money we cannot pay after reasonable tries is held as the law on unclaimed property requires. Ownership and licences, confidentiality, money owed, responsibility and the law continue after the end.
13. Responsibility
We do not promise that a campaign will earn any amount, that any number of views will be reached, or that a platform will not remove your content or account. The limits in the Terms of Service apply. You are responsible for harm from your clips or from breaking this agreement, and will compensate us and the brand for losses from a claim that your clip breaks someone's rights or the law, other than a claim about supplied material or something the brief told you to say.
14. Changes and law
We may change these terms for new campaigns by telling you in the dashboard; a change that must apply to a campaign you are already in (for legal reasons) applies from the date we give, and you may leave the campaign if you do not accept it. The laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there govern this agreement, and the dispute steps in the Terms of Service apply.
